What can I do?
Relax on the deck of the luxurious “Princesse de Provence”
whilst it glides past the vineyards of Burgandy. Enjoy the
delicious aroma and sight of the lavender growing on the hills
of Provence as we slowly slip by. Cruise to the provincial
town of Tournon and on to Arles, rich in Gallo Roman ruins.
Then wander through the streets of Avignon with its awe inspiring
Papal palace and the ancient temples of Vienne. Learn from
James John, one of the most experienced Masters of Wine in
the world, who will accompany us on this cruise.
What can I see?
The wonderful light of the South of France, and towns with
a long history such as Avignon, Arles, Beaune and Macon. The
very mention of their name conjures up images of wonderful
weather, historical buildings and famous artists and their
work.
What can I try?
Fine wine and French cuisine at its best. This is not a “three
men in a boat” cruise, you will be aboard a small private
floating palace, with all of the touches you would expect.
What are the highlights?
Being in the company of a true Master of Wine who will guide
us through some of the finest estates and tasting the different
wines that this region has to offer, including Burgundy, Beaujolais
including the legendary Chateauneuf- du- Pape. Visiting towns
such as Beaune, Avignon and Arles.
What are the options?
Winetasting, trips round ancient towns, a tour of one of the
best known regions of La Belle France.
When’s the best time to go?
Spring and Summer are the time most people like, to take advantage
of the long days.
What’s it really like?
France is a big country with a relatively small population.
The countryside is picturesque and a river cruise is always
a lingering and gentle way to take advantage of the views.
History floats past you.
Who wouldn’t enjoy it?
Those who like to stay put, or those who want to rush around.
