Coronavirus in Bulgaria

Will Coronavirus affect your tour and visit to Bulgaria? We are updating our blog with the latest developments surrounding the COVID-19 situation in Bulgaria and how it affects our tour departures, booking terms and travel in Bulgaria in general.

Today, 15 July 2020, we continue to closely monitor the unfolding Covid-19 outbreak. We hope that our past and future guests and friends are staying safe around the world. Our goal is for the frequently-updated information below to help you make an informed decision on your travel plans to Bulgaria.

Will 2020 Excedo Tours run?

Yes, we are welcoming guests again and operating all of our tours and will continue to do so, unless the situation changes drastically.

Bulgaria has been able to largely contain the Covid-19 outbreak, with currently slightly over 9 000 registered cases. The infection rate has been constant over the past month.

We are planning to run as many tours as possible this year and will keep you informed about any and all developments. If you have any travel and/or tour related questions, please do not hesitate to contact us at info@excedotravel.com oder Contact Us page.

COVID-19 related Cancellations

Recognizing the dynamic nature of the situation and having our guests best interest in mind, we are offering a 100% refund minus on all new bookings made after 16 March 2020 in case of cancellations due to COVID-19 related travel and/or other restrictions, so long as such cancellation is made more than 48 hours prior to a tour. In all other cases, our standard GTC and Cancellation Policy shall apply.

Our Commitment to You

Above all, Excedo Travel is committed to the health and safety of our guests.

Because we only operate private tours for you and your party, you will be exposed to minimum contact with others. Due to our tour concepts and overall focus on outdoor programs, we generally do not visit enclosed places where large numbers of people are gathered.

As we work with groups of a limited size, we can easily and efficiently incorporate regular cleaning and sanitizing into our daily routine. Each of our tour guides is equipped with a face mask, disposable paper towels for single-use, hand sanitizers and disposable medical face masks for guest use, as well as all of the latest emergency contact details.

All our staff members are familiar with and adhere to current anti-epidemic measures and regulations, issued by Bulgarian health authorities.

The Bulgarian Government has declared a State of Emergency. It will enter into effect as of 13 March 2020 and continue until 13 May 2020.

Due to the ongoing pandemic, we have taken the unprecedented decision to cancel all tour departures in March-May 2020. Our guests’ well-being and health are paramount to us.

What does this mean for guests booked to travel?

If you’re booked to travel with us, we are happy to offer either:

  • A deferral to a different departure date, either later this year or in 2021.

We have already been in touch directly with all guests affected by this change.
