Join us on a Stand-Up Paddle Tour in the spectacular Zlatna Panega River Canyon.
Zlatna Panega’s source is the largest karst spring in Bulgaria. Because of the concentration of calcium carbonate, the color of the water is a remarkable pale blue-green throughout most of the year. Locals call it therefore the Blue Ink Springs. The water temperature remains constant throughout the year, which makes the river surroundings a preferred habitat for a variety of birds and a Natura 2000 protected area. Some of the birds we are most likely to encounter while paddling are herons, swans, ducks, and kingfishers. If we are particularly lucky, we might also glimpse the very rare and elusive black storks that nest high up on the canyon rocks.
Another highlight nearby that we will visit is Prohodna Cave, also known as the Eyes of God. It is naturally lit by two holes on the ceiling which make it unique, as they bear striking resemblance to giant eyes that seem to be staring into your very soul. This cave is an absolute must see!
